Team building activities during your winter offsite

Team building activities during your winter offsite

Offsites are an important part of any strategic planning for a business and help make sure everyone is on the same page and working toward one common goal.  Meetings, presentations and discussions are of course an important element to any corporate offsite although they don’t always tend to be the most exhilarating part of the day or days.  A really important aspect (and a really fun one) is the team-building element and a real emphasis ought to also be put on this.  They can help bond your team, increase energy and productivity on the day and bring out new hidden skill sets.  They also are just really fun!  We have lots of different activities we can offer, but a few of our favourite indoor activities for an offsite are:

Trading Floor

‘Buy, buy, buy’, and ‘sell, sell, sell’!  Experience the buzz with a high stakes competition of the trading floor – working in the world stock markets. Rival syndicates take all the risks, make all the decisions and use their intuition to succeed in a high energy game of buying low and selling high.  This can easily take place in a meeting room and even stop and start over the day.  Teams allocate various roles such as finance manager, investment analyst, media analyst and of course – the Trader.  Syndicates are issued with a team pack which includes information about all the companies they will be investing in.  When the trading bell rings for the first trading window all eyes are on the trading screen which constantly changes as stock prices fall and rise. There are also live news reports and tweets which change the dynamic of the market.  The aim of the game is to make as much money as you can!

Smoothie Making Workshop

This activity is jam-packed with a variety of juicy fruit!  The concept here is that teams must create and launch a new and unique smoothie brand from the vast array of zingy fruits and ingredients provided.  The teams will choose their ingredients, research their target market, design the label, pitch and launch their new product.  It is fun yet still commercial and gives everyone an opportunity to get really hands-on and have fun at the same time!  There could be a few judges at the end and the concepts could even be taken back to the office with you to provide an alternative breakfast option!

Escape the Box

Inspired by the escape room phenomenon, this challenge requires teams to work through a series of clues to ‘unlock’ the next part of the game.  Groups are given a vintage style metal box and must progress through 12 sequential stages as quickly as they can.  Teams who employ a thoughtful strategy and manage their time carefully shall prevail. The activity is designed to keep the teams engaged in this race against time as they decipher puzzles and conundrums to crack the padlock codes and gain access to the next activity boxes.  Think fingerprint analysis, litmus testing liquids, UV lamps, map reading and vintage style military equipment.

Apprentices

Based on the highly successful BBC show ‘The Apprentice’, this topical event is a brilliant way to test teamwork in a fun and unique environment. Our ‘Apprentices’ event has been specifically designed to test and bring out all the core business attributes in you and your group, including leadership, delegation, commercial awareness & above all, teamwork!  Throughout the day, you and your team will be set challenging and fun business tasks. Once completed, Lord Alan will consult his experts and declare one of the teams the winners, who will receive a lavish 15-minute treat!
