24 Jan New York
The Big Apple. Known as the city that never sleeps. Below are some of our favourite hotels and activities.
Hotels
Lotte New York Place
Located on Maddison Avenue with a short walk to The Rockefeller Centre, Times Square and Fifth avenue this is where you want to be to see as much of the city as possible. The hotel is grand and has been a feature in many US TV shows. The staff are very attentive and will treat you as if they have known you all your life. You will find dining options suited to everyone from luxury brunch to baked goods. Why not enjoy handmade cocktails in one of Manhattan’s most popular bars, Trouble’s Trust? The hotel has 909 bedrooms all of which are spacious and come with all the suspected amenities. Highly recommend paying a bit extra and getting a cathedral view room!
Refinery Hotel
The Refinery Hotel is a luxury hotel located in the midtown near Bryant Park. As the former Colony Arcade building which dates back to 1912 the style of the hotel has a retro-modern décor which is evident as soon as you walk in. Still boasting a lot of it’s traditional architecture it has now been paired with a black and white palette, contemporary furnishings and very bold art. The bedrooms have 12ft ceilings and take inspiration from their storied past. You will find all the necessary amenities along with Dean & DeLuca luxury food products. The highlight of the Refinery hotel has to be there amazing rooftop bar. Suitable in both winter and summer this is a great spot to get a picture of the New York Skyline.
Activities
New York Media Boat
The best way to experience all the sights of Manhattan and get some of the best photos. This high-speed rib boat used to be used for the media to help capture breaking news. However, has now been transformed into one of the best activities the city has to offer. Setting off from North Cove Marina (opposite the world trade centre) you will head out of Manhattan and onto the Hudson River where you can get the best views of downtown and midtown. The captains are extremely knowledgeable and will stop to tell you facts about relevant places. You’ll get to race under Brooklyn bridge, see New Jersey and also stop right in front of the statue of liberty!
High Line
Looking for a free activity to do while in New York? The High Line is perfect for this. Built on a historic rail line you can walk from one end to the other. On your journey, you will come across gardens, artwork, performances and food stalls.
Ice Skating
If you are visiting Manhattan over the winter period, you will find ice rinks everywhere. The best one in our opinion is the Central Park Wollman Rink. It’s large, the ques are never too bad and it has one of the best views!
